New surveillance data has been released by the CDC for 2017 showing a 9% increase in reported cases of Lyme disease throughout the United States.
In previous years, the number of cases reported annually was 30,000, though the CDC had estimated the true number to be 300,000 due to unreported cases. New data shows the number of cases reported annually to be 42,743 with an estimated 427,430 total cases when considering those that go unreported.
