Award-Winning Cartoonist, Mike Dawson, To Give Presentation at ESU

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania will host Mike Dawson, an award-winning graphic novelist and cartoonist, on Wednesday, April 23, at 3 p.m. in Room 113 of Stroud Hall. Dawson’s presentation titled, “Identity & Authority through Cartooning,” will share his personal experiences in creating autobiographical comics. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

Dawson is a graduate from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts and has published five graphic novels since 2008. He won an Ignatz Award, an honor intended to recognize outstanding achievements in comics and cartooning, for “Outstanding Online Comic” in 2010.

Since 2008, Dawson has been nominated for Outstanding Graphic Novel, Outstanding Artist, Outstanding Series, Outstanding Minicomic and Promising New Talent Ignatz Awards. He was also nominated for the Howard E. Day Prize for his “Guitar Solo” mini-comic in 2006. The Day Prize is a comic book award for outstanding achievement in self-publishing.
