<p><strong>ESU is Partnering with James Barchesi, Founder of Worksite Financial, to Offer the Focused Financing Seminar Series</strong>. The series consisting of two seminars on helping entrepreneurs to gain financial footing and achieve funding success will be held at the Innovation Center, 562 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, Pa. 18301: <strong>SEMINAR 1: Go Fund Yourself</strong> Thursday, June 6 from 5:30 PM &#8211; 7:00 PM. This seminar focuses on a high level overview of the landscape of funding and accounting for businesses navigating today’s financial climate. Just Yell Fire is a program developed by Dallas Jessup, a former member of an Alpha Omicron Pi chapter that is directed toward college students, educating them on attacks made on women. Date rape, sexual assault, traffickers and abuse are among the many topics that will be discussed in a video provided by Alpha Omicron Pi national headquarters. The public is invited at no cost.</p>

<p><strong>90.3 WESS Radio Station Will Sponsor a Test Movie Screening of Dead TV From 7:00 to 9:00 PM Tues., April 30 in the Abeloff Center for the Performing Arts</strong>. Dead TV is an indie horror film that was shot locally and featured ESU students and alumni on the production crew. Harrison Smith, the director, will talk about the film and the movie making process. Featured ESU crew members include Dimitre Iliev, Ryan Oakes, Alex Nyman, Brandon Taylor, Melissa Sherry, Dom Galenao and Mike Sherry.</p>

<p><strong>Prepare to Serve: Teaching at the Monroe County Correctional Facility, 2:00 to 4:00 PM Tues., April 23 in the Warren E. ’55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center, Niedbala Auditorium</strong>. Interested members of the ESU community are invited to participate in this 45-minute session that will explore voluntary teaching efforts at the local county jail. Glenn Geiser-Getz, Ph.D., will discuss his recent experiences teaching short courses to two different groups of inmates (a group of men and a group of women) at the Monroe County Correctional Facility in Stroudsburg. Following a short presentation, there will be opportunities for discussion. Anyone interested, who has had experience teaching in a correctional setting, or who has worked with other nontraditional student populations, is welcome to attend and even share his/her observations. The session will explore the needs of students in correctional settings, the dynamics of getting involved in such activities, and the benefits of community service.</p>

<p><strong>ESU Invites the General Public to Attend a Sky Show, Titled “The Stars of Spring” and a Feature Show, “Passport to the Universe,” at 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Fri., April 19 in the McMunn Planetarium in the Warren E. ‘55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center</strong>. “Stars of Spring” describes what can be seen in the heavens during the spring months. The feature show, “Passport to the Universe,” narrated by two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks, treats the audience to realistic close-up views of star fields and planets, taking them on an exhilarating flight through a virtual re-creation of our universe. The program is open to the general public at no cost, but reservations are required due to limited seating. Reservations will be taken online starting at 8 a.m., April 15, on a first-come, first-serve basis at <a href="http://www.esu.edu/planetarium">www.esu.edu/planetarium</a>. <p><strong>“Time to Get Your Mud on” Muddy Madness Event. Race Day Check in Begins at 12:30 PM Race Starts at 1:30 PM Sun., April 21 at Stony Acres</strong>. The preregistration begins immediately and will run through April 16 in the University Center, Room 211 at ticket sales desk. The preregistration price is $10 for ESU students, $15 for ESU faculty and staff, and $20 for the general public. All registration fees will increase by $5 after April 16. Registration is limited to 50 participants and will include a free T-shirt. Bring your own food and drink. The race will include a creek crawl, hill climb, tractor tire flip, log carry, memorization hill, fitness station and so much more! <p><strong>Northeastern Pennsylvania (NEPA) Regional Bioscience Initiative: Research &#038; Testing Roundtable From 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Mon., April 22 at the Innovation Center at 562 Independence Road</strong>. The Office of Workforce Development is hosting the Northeastern RBI Research and Testing Roundtable, an initiative based upon the conclusions of an Angelou Economics Study that recognized Northeastern PA has the bioscience resources, regional educational institutions and private sector industries to grow and sustain bioscience industry jobs. The NEPA Regional Bioscience Initiative is an eight county effort that involves: Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike Schuylkill, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming collaborating to advance NEPA’s Bioscience industry. The roundtables are focused on research and testing and include students, faculty, entrepreneurs, researchers, industry and economic development professionals. In 1904, Gertrude was the first African-American woman to graduate from a Pennsylvania Normal school, specifically East Stroudsburg Normal School, today known as East Stroudsburg University.</p>

<p><strong>ESU Invites the General Public to Attend a Sky Show, Titled “The Stars of Spring” and a Feature Show, “Passport to the Universe,” at 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Fri., April 19 in the McMunn Planetarium in the Warren E. ‘55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center</strong>. “Stars of Spring” describes what can be seen in the heavens during the spring months. The feature show, “Passport to the Universe,” narrated by two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks, treats the audience to realistic close-up views of star fields and planets, taking them on an exhilarating flight through a virtual re-creation of our universe. The program is open to the general public at no cost, but reservations are required due to limited seating. Reservations will be taken online starting at 8 a.m., April 15, on a first-come, first-serve basis at <a href="http://www.esu.edu/planetarium">www.esu.edu/planetarium</a>. <p><strong>“Time to Get Your Mud on” Muddy Madness Event. Race Day Check in Begins at 12:30 PM Race Starts at 1:30 PM Sun., April 21 at Stony Acres</strong>. The preregistration price is $10 for ESU students, $15 for ESU faculty and staff, and $20 for the general public. All registration fees will increase by $5 after April 16. <p><strong>Northeastern Pennsylvania (NEPA) Regional Bioscience Initiative: Research &#038; Testing Roundtable From 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Mon., April 22 at the Innovation Center at 562 Independence Road</strong>. The Office of Workforce Development is hosting the Northeastern RBI Research and Testing Roundtable, an initiative based upon the conclusions of an Angelou Economics Study that recognized Northeastern PA has the bioscience resources, regional educational institutions and private sector industries to grow and sustain bioscience industry jobs. The NEPA Regional Bioscience Initiative is an eight county effort that involves: Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike Schuylkill, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming collaborating to advance NEPA’s Bioscience industry. The roundtables are focused on research and testing and include students, faculty, entrepreneurs, researchers, industry and economic development professionals. <p><strong>Join Other ESU Baseball Fans on Sat., April 20 for ESU Night at the IronPigs!</strong> Hope to see you at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown at 6:35 p.m. for a great night of baseball as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs take on the Buffalo Bisons! The ESU Staff and Alumni Association will be on site greeting guests and giving away copies of their Autumn Days publication.
