East Stroudsburg University will celebrate the opening of its Bloomberg Finance Lab on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in Beers Lecture Hall followed by guided tours of the Lab located in Gessner Hall, Room 117. Men’s Basketball Wins First Regional Title, Heads to Sioux Falls, SD for Elite 8

ESU’s men’s basketball team won its first NCAA Division II regional title in school history on Tuesday night, topping Shippensburg 84-72 for the Atlantic Region championship. The Warriors advance to the Elite 8 in Sioux Falls, S.D. and a quarterfinal match-up vs. Northern State (S.D.) on Tuesday, March 20. If ESU advances, it would play in the semifinals on Thursday night, followed by the national championship game on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET, broadcast on CBS.

ESU Students Invent Computer Malware Cure, Entering PASSHE Competition

Interning at a hospital technology department after their freshman year at East Stroudsburg University, Zach Waldman and Nick Neely got tired of having to stop projects to go fix the computers of employees who had accidently downloaded malware while clicking on ads.

“All the time we would get issues where people would say ‘my computer is slow, my computer is messed up,’” Neely said. “It would have saved me so much time at work if I could have told someone, ‘Click the reset button.”

Eleven Students Participate in European Union Simulation

When the fall 2017 semester ended last December, 11 students at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania began preparing for the international European Union Simulation (Eurosim). As part of a political science course offered over winter break the students, accompanied by L. Johan Eliasson, Ph.D., professor of political science, participated in Eurosim in Brussels, Belgium from January 4-7, 2018.  The rigorous, four-day exercise strives to enhance participants’ knowledge of international law, the European Union (the world’s largest single market, largest economy, and emerging political union, consisting of 28 member states), negotiating strategy, and diplomatic protocol, by negotiating real life legal and policy problems. The 2018 simulation was held at the Free University in Brussels.
