College Night for Local Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization at ESU

Kappa Delta Rho fraternity brothers and the sisters from Alpha Sigma Tau sorority at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) will host a “College Night” for the local Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization of Monroe County on Tuesday, April 23 from 5-8 p.m. The purpose of this event is to give young children a better understanding and insight into college and college life. The event will include a tour of ESU’s campus, which will be conducted by the hosting Greek organizations. The tour will feature visits to the Warren E. ’55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center, Kemp Library, the quad, Mattioli Recreation Center and Hemlock Suites.

Dinner for participants will be served in Dansbury Commons at 5:30 p.m. and Van Reidhead, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs, will address the Big Brothers Big Sisters participants about the importance of education. The campus tour will begin at 6 p.m. The event will conclude back in Dansbury Commons with a wrap-up party featuring music, root beer floats and an opportunity for the “littles” to ask the “bigs” questions about what they have learned.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is the largest donor and volunteer-supported mentoring network in the United States providing children facing adversity with strong and enduring, one-on-one mentoring relationships.
