East Stroudsburg University students who believe they have a great idea for a new business, or a goal to grow a business they’ve already started are encouraged to participate in the eighth annual Student Business Plan Competition sponsored by Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education.
Students from all 14 State System universities will participate. The top prize in the competition is $10,000, which can be used toward putting your business plan into action. Additional cash prizes will be awarded to other top competitors.
Winners of the annual competition will be recognized and receive their cash prizes at an awards ceremony to be held April 3, 2019. Since 2011, students from East Stroudsburg University have placed within the top three places in the competition a total of 5 times. The most recent ESU students to take top honors were Amanda Layden of Organtick LLC, and Zachary Waldman and Nick Neely of Falchion Systems LLC. Falchion Systems now operates out of the ESU Business Accelerator at the Innovation Center. ESU graduates Jonathan Weber of Marathon Studios Inc. and Blaise DelFino of Fader Plugs took home first place honors in their respective years.
To participate in the competition, students must complete an initial entry form by Nov. 30. The full application and materials are due Feb. 13.
For additional information on the competition requirements, including how to enter, go to www.passhebiz.org or email Keith Modzelewski at kmodzelewski@esu.edu.
