East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) will celebrate its second annual Holiday on the Circle on Monday, December 2, at 6 p.m. The event will take place on ESU’s front circle followed by refreshments in the president’s residence.

ESU students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to join university President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D., as she extends holiday greetings that will feature the lighting of the Holiday tree and the blessing of the Menorah.

Student senate president Justin Amann, a junior history major from Bethlehem, Pa., kicks off the evening by providing welcoming comments followed by a performance from the ESU Concert Choir. Rabbi Peg Kershenbaum from B’nai Harim in Pocono Pines, Pa., will address attendees as the university community prepares for the approaching holiday season before Rabbi Baruch Melman from Temple Israel of the Poconos delivers a Hanukkah performance. Reverend Edmund T. Freeborn from the East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church will address the crowd with holiday remarks before the ESU Gospel Choir performs. Pastor John Harding of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Smithfield Township, Pa., will offer a closing prayer of peace.

Immediately following the program there will be a reception at the president’s house located at 1 College Circle. Kosher cookies, hot cider and hot chocolate will be served.

This long-standing tradition, which is open to the public at no cost, is supported by the president’s office, student senate, community churches and synagogues and ESU campus musical organizations.
