East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) has announced the schedule for the fall Community Dance Program, which offers dance instruction for children and yoga/Pilates fusion and Zumba classes for adults. The teachers and assistants are ESU students with a background in dance, and all have teaching experience. They are under the supervision of Elizabeth Gibbons, Ph.D., professor of movement activities and lifetime fitness, and Natalie Schultz-Kahwaty, M.Ed., instructor of movement activities and lifetime fitness, both of whom have extensive experience teaching a wide variety of dance forms.

“The children’s classes incorporate learning the concepts and skills of dance technique and the development of self-awareness and self-expression with guidance in exploring motion and emotions,” said Dr. Gibbons. “The yoga /Pilates fusion class for adults blends yoga, which focuses on strength, flexibility, and spirituality, with Pilates, which builds strength in the deep muscles of the abdominal region, the body’s core. Both involve attaining specific postures, strength, flexibility, and mindfulness through movement and breathing. Zumba combines world music and Latin steps set to an aerobic beat.”
