East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania’s new face of the warriors is to be featured among the world’s best logos when the 10th edition of the book, LogoLounge is released. The forward-facing warrior logo that was launched in January 2017 and now represents all ESU athletic teams was among 40,000 logos that were submitted for consideration and only 2,500 made the cut. ESU’s new athletic logo, which shares the same shape and color palette as the University’s new institutional logo, is intended to develop a bold visual identity that is aligned with ESU’s mission, vision and strategic plan.

“We are thrilled to see the new ESU Warriors mark included in this edition of LogoLounge,” commented Joe Bosack, president of Pottsville, Pa. based Joe Bosack & Co., the design firm responsible for the creation of ESU’s new look. “Our firm submitted this logo to Logo Lounge because we believe it is a contemporary example of a distinctive, bold athletics identity that communicates strength, determination, and aspirations of ESU’s student-athletes and its entire community.”

ESU’s Athletic Director, Josh Looney, couldn’t agree more. “In just a few short months, our new athletic logo has elevated the enthusiasm and excitement for all of our sports. The logo supports a renewed sense of Warrior pride throughout our campus and offers our student-athletes – and all students – a brand identity that unites them and provides a competitive advantage for our athletic department.”

ESU athletic teams have been identified as the Warriors since 1932. In the two decades since retiring all Native American imagery in compliance with NCAA requirements, the ESU Warriors have had a limited visual identity. ESU’s new athletic mark gives the Warriors an identity that is confident, bold and eager to champion the University. Multiple versions of the marks will be available for merchandise across ESU’s color palette (black, red, silver), giving Warriors fans plenty of options to support their favorite student-athletes and teams.

LogoLounge is one of the most respected logo design competitions around the globe. Nearly 40,000 logos were submitted to this year’s competition and were judged by a panel of 10 designers and illustrators from around the world with broad skill sets like typography and letterforms, symbols and marks, conceptual to illustrative, and boutique to international.

As a winner, ESU’s athletic logo will be included in the printed publication of LogoLounge Book 10 as well as a fully digital eBook allowing for broader distribution and exposure.
