East Stroudsburg University football players and coach Denny Douds teamed with six high schools from the Mountain Valley Conference to ring Salvation Army bells at area business on Saturday, December 7.

The high school football programs taking part were East Stroudsburg North and South, Pocono Mountain East and West, Stroudsburg and Pleasant Valley.

Members of Douds’ team, in its seventh year of volunteering, were stationed at the Stroud Mall.

The Warriors (7-4) finished the 2013 season with seven-plus wins for the eighth time in the last 12 years, having posted an 82-51 record during that stretch. Douds owns a career record of 244-171-3, holds the PSAC record for wins (set in 2008) and is the owner of the NCAA Division II record for games coached (418). His career-win total ranks third in Division II history.

ESU’s football team had eight players on the All-PSAC football team, including tailback Robert Healy, who was named PSAC East Freshman of the Year and redshirt junior defensive tackle Bryan Thomson was named to the first team for the second straight year.
