East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania has been ranked in the Top 10 for the 2014 mtvUCollege Radio Woodie awards, a prestigious honor for WESS and the university as a whole. mtvU is a subsidiary of MTV and Viacom, broadcasting at 750 universities and reaching almost nine million college students nationwide. More than 100 college radio stations were in the running.

Top 10 qualifiers are judged on three segments of data: Reporting playlists to the College Music Journal (CMJ) and the ranking by Princeton review; its appearance in social media and the frequency of which they are mentioned; and its presence on Ratemyprofesor.com.

Anyone interested in helping WESS be the overall winner may vote now online or at booths on campus throughout the week. Voting locations and times are: Friday, February 28, in Booth C of Student Union from noon until 5 p.m.; and Dansbury Commons foyer on Tuesday, March 4, and Thursday, March 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. To mark the last three hours of voting on Thursday, March 6, anyone, including the public, is welcome to vote at the vote-a-thon from 2 to 5 p.m. in Stroud 314. Voters may also vote by visiting www.mtv.com/ontv/woodieawards/2014/college-radio-woodie/ or by attending WinterFest on Friday, February 28, at the WESS station on the second floor of the McGarry building. WinterFest is open to the public at no cost.
