ESU Nursing Department, NEPA Nursing Educators Consortium Host Conference

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Nursing Department and the NEPA Nursing Educators’ Consortium will host a conference titled Closing the Loop: Integrating Evidence Based Practice into Education and Health Care. This conference will work to engage healthcare providers and educators in discussions related to the use of evidence based nursing research to improve the quality of healthcare, and enhance student learning outcomes with innovative approaches to the use of technology, according to Paulette Dorney, Ph.D., assistant professor of nursing. It will be held in the ESU Innovation Center on October 31 from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The conference will feature keynote speaker Dr. Bernadette Mazurek Melnyk, Ph.D., R.N., CPNP/PMHNP, FNAP, FAAN, who will present “Improving Quality of Healthcare and Patient Outcomes through Evidence Based Practice and ARCC: Key Strategies for Success.” Dr. Melnyk is currently the associate vice president for health promotion, university chief wellness officer, and professor and dean of the college of nursing at Ohio State University. Additionally, she is the co-editor of four books including Evidence-based Practice in Nursing and Health Care: A Guide to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Screening. Dr. Melnyk also served a four-year term on the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force.

The conference is open to nurse educators and healthcare providers in both an academic setting and in nursing practice as well as ESU nursing students. There is no charge for ESU students to attend the conference. The registration fee for non-ESU students is $40 per person.
