ESU Theater Department Attends La Bohème at the Met

East Stroudsburg University’s theatre department spent their weekend “living in contented poverty,” or at least listening to Rodolfo sing about it in “La Bohème” during their trip to the Metropolitan Opera in New York City this weekend. Margaret Joyce Ball, D.M.A., associate professor and chair of theatre, Stephanie French professor of theater, and Yoshinori Tanokura, associate professor of theatre, accompanied 16 theatre majors on the trip to the Met. Sara O’ Donnell, a sophomore from Royersford, Pa., Asia Burnett a sophomore from Philadelphia, Pa., Luis Feliciano a sophomore from Philadelphia, Pa., Ayuana Rosario a freshman from Hershey, Pa., Rebecca Regina a junior from Rutherford, NJ., Dontel Ducksworth a sophomore from East Stroudsburg ,Pa., Michael Lloret a senior from Shawnee on Delaware, Pa., Gregory Alexander a freshman from Philadelphia, Pa., Andrew Scoggin a freshman from Ottsville,Pa., and Sophia Thompson a sophomore from Etters, Pa. were among the students on the trip. While they may have spent this weekend off the stage, the theatre department has been working on their fall production, “Seussical the Musical,” which will debut on October 22, during Homecoming Week. The musical, directed by Ball, will run October 22-25 at 7:30 p.m., October 25 at 2:00 p.m., and October 26 at 2:00 p.m. in the Smith-McFarland Theater of ESU’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets.
