ESU’s Gamma Xi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi Holds Annual Induction Ceremony

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Gamma Xi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), the International Honor Society in Education, recently inducted 23 new members and recognized two outstanding educators during the chapter’s annual induction ceremony at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn in Stroudsburg. Kappa Delta Pi was established to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching. This international honor society has been an active educational organization since 1911. The 42,000+ members include the best and brightest scholars and practitioners in the field of education.  ESU has sponsored a chapter of KDP since 1931.

The new members of the ESU chapter have earned a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.4 and have performed more than 20 hours of community service during the past year.

Those inducted to ESU’s Gamma Xi Chapter this year included: Kristina Allan, a junior from Colonia, N.J.; Rachel Belles, a junior from Wilkes Barre, Pa.; Alexa Cospito,  a senior from Toms River, N.J.; Courtney Cox, a senior from Manasquan, N.J.; Allison Esling, a junior from Yardley, Pa.; Gabrielle Gombos, a junior from Schnecksville, Pa.; Samantha Hallock, a senior from Dunmore, Pa.; Morgan Hanley, a senior from Madison, N.J.; Leah Holubowski, a senior from Danielsville, Pa.; Lia Jones, a senior from Cranford, N.J.; Jessica Leap, a senior from Sciota, Pa.; Kelly Lehmann, a senior from Saylorsburg, Pa.; Alyssa Maksymiv, a senior from Hopatcong, N.J.; Amanda Mazzella, a junior from Morganville, N.J.; Bridget Nealon, a junior from Stroudsburg, Pa.; Susan Patterson, a senior from Clarks Summit, Pa.; Jessica Robinson, a junior from Philadelphia, Pa.; Katelyn Scheck, a senior from New Windsor, N.Y.; Kim Skalamera, a senior from Pottstown, Pa.; Stephanie Smith, a senior from Taylor, Pa.; Kelly Sorber, a senior from Spring City, Pa.; and Briana Tyler, a junior from Tobyhanna, Pa.

Jody Kunkle, a teacher in the BangorAreaSchool District, was honored as Outstanding Educator of the Year. Caroline DiPipi-Hoy, Ph.D., associate professor in ESU’s Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation was honored as the Outstanding Professor of the Year. Both recipients were honored for exemplifying the ideals of Kappa Delta Pi and demonstrating excellence in education.
