ESU’s Madelon Powers Gallery to Present Senior Seminar and Portfolio in Art Student Exhibition

The Madelon Powers Gallery of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania will feature art works and portfolios of selected students in a Senior Seminar and Portfolio in Art Student Exhibition from April 23 to May 16.

The exhibition will include works that students produced for various clients as part of the art department’s student design agency, New Mind Designs.

Hours for the gallery, located in the university’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

A reception for the artists will be Wednesday, April 23, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the gallery.  At the reception, the 2014 Excellence in the Arts awards will be presented in art, music, theatre and dance. Both the exhibit and reception are open to the public at no cost.

The exhibit will feature works by 10 senior art and design majors: McKenziey Andrew of Saylorsburg, Pa.; Evan M. Campana of Chalfont, Pa.; Lauren Carhart of Nazareth, Pa.; Aisha George of Bath, Pa.; Nadya D. Gutierrez of Albrightsville, Pa.; Chrysta S. Hamilton of Newtown Square, Pa.; Chelsea M. Opplinger of Allentown, Pa.; Karen Pujols of Easton, Pa.; Jeffrey G. Reitz of Stroudsburg, Pa.; and Matthew S. Silverman of East Stroudsburg, Pa.

Junior art and design majors who will be featured in the exhibit include: Kelly J. Andagana of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; Maria Lanza of Toms River, N.J.; and Ed Nufrio of Stanhope, N.J.

Three visiting scholars from Shanghai Normal University, Peijia Yu, Wenlu Guo, and Jieying Wang, also will be part of the exhibit.
