EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University's NCAA Division II champion field hockey team was offered recognition by the Board of Governors of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education at its session on Thursday.

ESU completed the 2015 season with a school record 19 wins, capturing its first-ever PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) and NCAA Division II championships.

This marked the 22nd time in 25 years that a PSAC team has won the NCAA Division II field hockey title.

The Warriors (19-3) were named the DII statistical champion in winning percentage (0.864) and scoring margin (+22.5), outscoring its opponents 67-17 to earn the scoring margin title among the 31 schools that sponsor field hockey at the DII level. ESU was also fourth in DII in goals per game (3.05) and second in goals against average (0.77).

ESU's 19 wins surpassed the previous school record of 17 set in 1995 and tied in 2010.

The Warriors won the national title with a 1-0 (OT) win vs. Merrimack on November 22 at Bloomsburg on a penalty stroke 4:48 into overtime by senior forward Ally Roth, a three-time first team All-America and the NFHCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year.

ESU had three first team NFHCA All-America selections in Roth, junior midfielder Desiraye Mack and junior back Emily Howell. Senior midfielder Rebecca Snyder was named to the Synapse Sports All-America second team, and freshman midfielder Paige Harrold was named to the Synapse Sports All-Rookie team.

Head coach Sandy Miller, who completed her 32nd season at ESU, was named the NFHCA DII Coach of the Year, Atlantic Region Coach of the Year and Synapse Sports DII Coach of the Year.

The Warriors were previously recognized by the Pennsylvania Senate on March 22 in Harrisburg, and by the NCAA during the first round of the NCAA DI men's basketball tournament on March 18 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Also recognized on Thursday by the Board of Governors were two NCAA DII individual national champions in men's swimming and diving - Clarion junior Collin Vest, who won the three-meter diving championship, and West Chester junior Victor Polyakov, who won the 200-yard individual medley.
