Four ESU Faculty Members Honored at Tenth Annual Authors’ Reception

Four East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania faculty members were recognized at the institution’s 10th annual University Authors’ Reception on Tuesday, November 11, at Kemp Library. The yearly event is designed to honor university authors whose books were published during the preceding year. This year’s honorees either authored or edited books in 2013.

The names of the authors and co-editors and their book titles are: Gregory B. Dwyer, Ph.D., professor of exercise science, author of ACSM’s Certification Review, 4th Edition (Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins, Baltimore, Md., 2013) and associate editor of ACSM’s Resources for the Health Fitness Specialist, 1st Edition (Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins, Baltimore, Md., 2013); Heon Kim, Ph.D., assistant professor of philosophy and religious studies, editor of A Just World: Multi-disciplinary Perspectives on Social Justice (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK., 2013); Christopher T. Brooks, Dr. phil., associate professor of history, editor and coauthor of German Employment Law: 618 Questions Frequently Asked by Foreigners (Walter de Gruyter, 2013); and Maureen McLaughlin, Ed.D., professor of reading, coauthor of The Common Core: Teaching Students in Grades 6-12 to Meet the Reading Standards (International Reading Association, Newark, DE., 2013) and The Common Core: Teaching K-5 Students to Meet the Reading Standards (International Reading Association, Newark, DE., 2013).

The program included welcoming comments from Edward Owusu-Ansah, Ph.D., dean of the library and university collections and interim dean of the graduate college, congratulatory remarks by Van A. Reidhead, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs, and presentation of honorees by ESU President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D.
