Local Soloist Featured in University/Community Orchestra Concert at ESU Wednesday, May 1

Ty Gable, a senior at East Stroudsburg High School-South and principal flutist of the University/Community Orchestra at East Stroudsburg University, will be the featured performer at the group’s spring concert 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1.
The concert will be held at Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall of the university’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg. The performance, sponsored by the ESU Department of Music, is open to the public at no cost.

Gable will be the soloist for Georges Hue’s Fantasie for Flute and Orchestra. Betsy Buzzelli-Clarke, Ed.D., associate professor of music, is director of the Orchestra.

A member of the high school’s concert band, marching band and pit orchestra, Gable also is principal flutist for the Pocono Youth Orchestra, and Pennsylvania Lyric Opera Orchestra.Gable is an active participant in the Performing Arts Institute of Wyoming Seminary, the Pocono Flute Society Flute Choir, the East Stroudsburg High School South Flute Quartet, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic Mentorship Program, as well as various PMEA band and orchestra festivals–most notably the All-State Orchestra.  He studies flute privately with Nancy Sanderson of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and has had additional instruction from Dr. Chris Vaneman, Elizabeth Landon, and Carol Wincenc.
