EDITOR’S NOTE: The staged reading of Laughing Wild has been postponed until the spring semester. Details will follow when a new date is selected.

Laughing Wild, a comedy by Tony-Award winning playwright Christopher Durang, has been selected to be the second in a series of staged readings being presented through a partnership between the Pocono Mountains’ Theater Company and East Stroudsburg University’s Department of Theatre.

The comedy will be presented Saturday, October 22 at 7 p.m. in Smith-McFarland Theatre of ESU’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg, Pa.

Laughing Wild gives the audience different perspectives of two troubled people trying to live in the chaos of New York City. A hysterical and unusual piece, the comedy examines people’s quest for happiness in a heightened reality.

Durang, who won the 2013 Tony Award for Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike, is best known for the play Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You.

Daniel Talbott, artistic associate of Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, and the artistic director of the Lucille Lortel and NYIT Award-winning Rising Phoenix Rep, will direct the reading. The cast will feature Pamela Shaw and Brian Rueter.

The reading is recommended for adults and mature high school students and is open to the public at no cost. There is a suggested donation of $5 per reading.

Reservations for the reading are recommended, but not required. To make a reservation, email SarahT.Schwab@gmail.com, and include your name, the title of show, and the number of seats requested.
