Dr. Terry Madonna, one of the nation’s most highly recognized political pollsters, addressed East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania’s retired faculty organization at its annual spring luncheon on Friday, May 18. The event took place in the Keystone Room on the ESU campus, with a reception at 11:30 a.m. followed by a buffet luncheon at noon.

The Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Retired Faculties (APSCURF) invited Madonna, who is director of the Center for Politics and Public Affairs and a professor at Franklin & Marshall College, to speak on what recent state, regional and national public opinion polls indicate for the November 2012 presidential election. Whether he is breaking down the electability of Republican presidential aspirants, dissecting the re-election of President Obama, or scrutinizing the elected representatives of the Commonwealth, pollster Terry Madonna utilizes the current data and opinions at his disposal.

Madonna is the director of the Franklin & Marshall College Poll (formerly the Keystone Poll), the oldest Pennsylvania statewide poll exclusively conducted and produced in the state. The Franklin & Marshall College Poll is supported by media partners  including The Philadelphia Daily News, WGAL-TV (South Central PA), the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, WTAE-TV (Pittsburgh), WPVI-TV6/ABC (Philadelphia), Times-Shamrock Newspapers (Northeast PA), Harrisburg Patriot-News, and Lancaster Newspapers.

Before joining the faculty at Franklin & Marshall, Madonna was professor and chair of the government department at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. He currently hosts Pennsylvania Newsmakers, a weekly statewide news and commentary program. He co-writes a bi-weekly political commentary column, Politically Uncorrected, which has appeared in many state and national newspapers, including the Pocono Record. Dr. Madonna is a regular analyst for WGAL-TV (Lancaster/Harrisburg) and a panelist on WPVI-TV’s (Philadelphia) commentary program, Inside Story.

Nationally, Madonna has appeared on CNN’s Inside Politics, CBS News, ABC News, C-Span, Fox News, MSNBC and NBC News. He also has contributed to political websites for MSNBC, the Hill Newspaper, Real Clear Politics, Stateline, and Fox News.

Madonna is the recipient of a Distinguished Professor Award from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. He was awarded the President’s Medallion at Millersville University. He also received a special commendation for scholarship and leadership from the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. In addition, the Speech Communication Society of Pennsylvania named Madonna an “Outstanding Speaker of the Year.”
