The East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) will host a glow-in-the-dark Zumba fundraiser on Monday, November 10 from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. in the Keystone Room.

NSSLHA is fundraising for Operation Smile, an international children’s medical charity that provides cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries for children in low-and middle-income countries. Last year, NSSLHA raised $2,880—enough money to cover 12 surgeries. Participants will dance for two hours nonstop to raise money and awareness for Operation Smile.

“As students who are studying to become speech pathologists, this fundraiser is close to our hearts,” Katherine David, NSSLHA treasurer and a senior majoring in speech-language pathology from Emmaus, Pa., said. “We have the opportunity to help children with conditions that will affect their speech.”

The ESU chapter of NSSLHA is a student organization composed of undergraduates studying speech-language pathology who work to promote their profession through fundraising and community service.

This event is open to the public and tickets will be $5 at the door. NSSLHA will provide refreshments.
