The United States Junior Chamber International Senate (JCI) has elected John Robinson, Ed.D., president. Dr. Robinson is the senior director for the Student Activity Association at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. He serves as the administrator for all student organizations at ESU, advisor to Student Senate, oversees the day to day building operations for the University Center, and assists with management of SAA operations.

Robinson is a second generation JCI senator and “Jacycee;” both his parents were actively involved with the organization. He first joined in 1983 in Coshocton, Ohio, and transferred his membership to the Pocono Mountains in 1989. “I wanted to meet other young people and become involved with the various community service projects the chapter planned,” Robinson said. “I then began to take advantage of the many leadership, personal and professional development programs that the local, state and national organizations offered.” The Pocono Mountains Jaycees presented him with senatrorship in 1996.

“Being elected president provides me the opportunity to continue to mentor and assist Jaycee chapters and leaders as they provide positive change in their communities and for their members,” said Robinson.

The United States JCI Senate is an independent organization, with its own constitution and bylaws, associated with the United States Junior Chamber and Junior Chamber International. The U.S. JCI Senate consists of over 8,000 members throughout 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The purpose of the Senate includes assisting and mentoring Jaycees, supporting the U.S. JCI Senate Foundation in bestowing college scholarships to graduating seniors, and promoting fellowship among its members.

Though Robinson’s involvement with the Jaycees and JCI is separate from his role with the Student Activity Association at ESU, he says he often uses leadership training activities he’s participated in as a Jaycee with student leaders on campus.
