Students Offer Day of Service in Honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania kicked off Black History Month on February 6 with the fifth annual MLK Day of Service.
This year’s theme, “The Beloved Community,” carried over from the 21st Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Breakfast held at ESU in January.
To serve “The Beloved Community” ESU students, student organizations, academic departments provided a health and wellness fair. The wellness fair provided members of the community with an array of information & services focused on physical health, wellness and mental health/self-care.
There was hearing screenings conducted by the department of communication science and disorders.
The department of nursing and students majoring in nursing conducted blood pressure screening, demonstrations on how to conduct testicular and breast self–examinations, and gave out information on nutrition and healthy eating habits.
