Applications Are Now Available For The PASSHE Women’s Leadership Institute – The institute provides a forum to nurture the leadership of female students by creating an experience that empower them as leaders, challenges them to realize their full potential as leaders and connect them with other women who are committed to social change. Applications are available in the Women’s Center (411 Normal St.), Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs (121 Reibman) and the SAA Office (Room 223 of the University Center). Applications should be returned to the SAA by Friday, April 11.

The College of Business and Management Executive Leadership Speakers Series at ESU will Present a Group Panel on Synergies and Entrepreneurship Featuring ESU Alumni, Faculty and Members of the Business Community who will share their success stories and explore opportunities for creating partnerships, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 10, at the ESU Innovation Center. The public is invited at no cost.

ESU will Present a CETL Mini-Conference for Faculty Research and Scholarly Activity from 12:30 to 4:00 PM, Thursday, April 10, in Monroe Hall. This event will be a new version and format of the faculty colloquia of the past years. The public is invited at no cost.

Take Back the Night, a March Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence hosted by Women’s Resources of Monroe County and ESU’s Feminist Alliance, is from
4:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 10. The march begins at the courthouse behind Main Street and ends in front of Stroud Hall where there are speakers and entertainment. The public is invited at no cost.

ESU will Present an International Night to Celebrate Regional American Cuisine, from 4:30 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 10, in Dansbury Commons. The public is invited at a cost of $8.60 for the meal.

ESU Alumnus Gabe Hooghuis will be Speaking about his Experience as a Transgender Individual from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, Thursday, April 10, in Beers Lecture Hall. The public is invited at no cost.

The ESU Office of the Provost and the ESU Faculty Development and Research (FDR) Committee will host a Symposium to Showcase the work of two Recent Major Grant Recipients from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, Thursday, April 10, in Lower Dansbury. Presenters will be Li-Ming Chiang, Ed.D., an assistant professor of movement activities and lifetime fitness, and Yi-hui Huang, Ph.D., an associate professor of digital media technologies. ESU’s Chapter of Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity will host its Second Annual Stroudsburg Strut 5K walk/run Saturday morning, April 12, on the Quad. Attendees may pre-register from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM the following specified days: Tuesday, April 1, Thursday, April 3, and Monday, April 7, through Friday, April 11, in the courtyard outside the University Center windowed area. The cost for those who pre-register is $15. Registration the day of the race, which is open to the public, will begin promptly at 9:00 AM Those registering on race-day will pay $20. Children ages 10 and younger can take part for free. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation which provides financial and emotional support for the families of children battling cancer. The B+ Foundation also provides research grants in an effort to help fight childhood cancer research. ESU’s Dance Team will host its Second Annual Showcase on Saturday, April 12, and Sunday, April 13. The event is at 7:00 PM on Saturday and at 1:00 PM on Sunday in the Abeloff Center for the Performing Arts on campus. The showcase will include entertainment as well as prizes for all ages. This event is open

The Lehigh Valley Public Health Alliance, a student group from East Stroudsburg University’s Bethlehem-based campus, will Conduct its Inaugural Healthy You Day from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 12. The event, which will be at ESU’s Lehigh Valley Center at 60 W. Broad St., Bethlehem, Pa., invites the public to participate in this fun, enriching and educational experience. Held during National Public Health Week, which runs from April 7-13, Healthy You Day will focus on increasing awareness and knowledge of preventive health behaviors which will lead to healthier lifestyles and choices. Busson von Alvensleben will Present a Wimer Lecture on International Affairs, at 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 17, in the Niedbala Auditorium in the Hoeffner Science and Technology Center. The Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, New York, Busso von Alvensleben will give the spring 2014 Wimer Lecture on International Affairs at ESU. Final Paper Push at the Writing Studio in the Kemp Library from April 28 – May 3. The Writing Studio is hosting Final Paper Push to help students with all their writing needs as the semester comes to a close. Come for one-on-one tutoring, free coffee and snacks, and a quiet study space. Open Monday – Thursday 1:00 to 9:00 PM and Friday 1:00 to 5:00 PM The last day is Monday, May 3.

The Art Department at ESU will host the Grand Opening of G3Design Lab, a 3D Printing, Design and Fabrication Facility, on Wednesday, April 16, beginning at 4:00 PM in the Fine and Performing Arts Center. Refreshments will be available in the lobby of the Fine Arts Center from 4:00 to 4:30 PM The program will commence in the Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall at 4:30 PM and conclude with a ribbon cutting ceremony in front of classroom G3 at 5:40 PM Tours of the facility will follow the ribbon cutting with students available to answer questions and demonstrate the lab equipment. The Madelon Powers Gallery will be open where the Student Art Association Art Exhibit will be on view. The event is free and open to the public. Earth Day! Come Celebrate the Environment with your Fellow Classmates, Staff, and ESU Community, from noon to 4:00 PM, Tuesday, April 22, on the Quad. There will be an ecofriendly fashion show featuring styles that have been repurposed. Swag and prizes will be given away throughout the day for our Earth Day trivia. Games, tye-dye, and live music will also be featured at this event. Student Senate Invites Local Businesses, Clubs and Organizations to 14th Annual Community on the Quad Event, on Saturday, April 26, from noon to 4:00 PM. This year’s theme of “In the Jungle,” is meant to bring the campus and local communities together for a fun, yet productive gathering for students, faculty and staff members and area residents. In order to participate, Student Senate asks that you provide a nominal donation of $20 which will be used for scholarship funding through ESU’s Foundation. With that donation, vendors are welcome to sell merchandise at a private space which will include two chairs and one, 6-foot table, which may be decorated to go along with this year’s theme. Those wishing to reserve a space or looking for more information about the event should contact Student Senate member and special events coordinator Melissa Ciment at mciment@live.esu.edu by April 4.
