Attention All Funded Student Organizations: Budget Workshops will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 2:00 PM in the Keystone Room and Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 6:00 PM in the Senate Chambers of the University Center for all organizations interested in receiving a Student Activity Association allocation for 2014 – 2015. You must attend one of the workshops to receive your budget submission information. Budget submission deadline is Monday, Feb. 17 at 4:00 PM If you have questions, contact the Student Senate Office at 570-422-3417.

Welcome Week at the Writing Studio. The Writing Studio is hosting Welcome Week to help students with all their writing and revising needs. Join us in Kemp Library from Feb. 3 – Feb. 7 for one-on-one tutoring, free coffee and snacks, and a quiet study area. Open Monday – Thursday, 1 – 9:00 PM and Friday, 1:00 – 5:00 PM

Planetarium Shows: A double feature, titled “Long Winter Nights,” at 7:00 PM and “Two Small Pieces of Glass,” at 9:00 PM, will be held on Friday, Feb. 7 in the McMunn Planetarium in the Warren E. ‘55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center. Reservations are required due to limited seating. Reservations will be taken online Monday, Feb. 3 on a first-come, first-served basis at www.esu.edu/planetarium. The public is invited at no cost.

The FIT Department has Opened 3 Additional 4 QTR Classes – CRN 14116 FIT 132 Tennis 1 TR 9:30 – 10:45 AM, CRN 14117 FIT 132 Tennis 1 TR 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM, CRN 14118 FIT 129 Basketball TR 12:30 – 2:00 PM

Applications for Resident Advisors (RA) at University Ridge are now Available! If you are interested in being an RA at the Ridge next year, you can get an application in the University Ridge office or on our website at www.esuridge.com. This year we are looking for Summer Resident Advisors (SRA), who will only work over the summer months and regular Resident Advisors (RA) who will only work through the 2014-2015 academic year, including winter break. SRAs will be paid a base salary for their summer work and RAs will be compensated with free housing for the entire year. If you have any questions, please call Luke in the University Ridge office at 570-422-2400.

Opera Talk: Opera enthusiast Eugene Galperin, Ph.D., an assistant professor of mathematics at ESU, will explore the importance of historical context in music in a talk, “‘This is My Country!’—Nationalism in Concert Music: American, Czech and Russian,” at 2:00 PM, Friday, Feb. 7 in the Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall of ESU’s Fine and Performing Arts Center. The public is invited at no cost.

African-American Heritage Month:
The ZUZU African Acrobats, known for their performance on America’s Got Talent, will perform at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3 in Abeloff Center for the Performing Arts.

Open Mic Night at 10:00 PM Thursday, Feb. 6 in Stroud Hall, Room 117.

African-American Heritage Festival Sunday, February 9 in the Keystone Room. The time of the festival will be announced at a later date.

Auditions for the University Dance Company will be Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 2:00 – 3:30 in the Dance Studio, 2nd floor of Koehler Fieldhouse. No prepared routine is needed. 3-5 years prior dance study recommended. Student members of the University Dance Company must enroll in DANC 315 and meet 2:00 – 3:30 PM Mondays and Wednesdays.
