“Keys to Success in College and Life” 7:00 p.m., Oct. 11, in the Keystone Room. Dr. Will Keim is known for empowering and motivating individuals and organizations to be more productive, encouraging them to operate with personal and organizational beliefs, and to make character-driven decisions in their daily life. Dr. Keim is coming to ESU to inspire students to become more responsible and make life-giving and empowering choices within the areas of scholarship, community service, peacemaking, character-driven decision making, substance abuse resistance and education, parental relations, and other important areas. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to make a master calendar of their academic responsibilities, make an ethical decision, time management, and improve to live a healthy and wellness centered life. Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities – Applications are Now Available. After 79 years of serving higher education, Who’s Who remains one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs in the nation. Those selected for Who’s Who are juniors, seniors or graduate students, active participants in collegiate extra-curricular activities and the community and maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. If you would like to be considered for East Stroudsburg University’s 2013 Who’s Who, you can pick up an application from the Student Activity Association office on the second floor of the University Center. Deadline for returning completed applications is Friday, Oct. 12.

Physician Assistant Panel Discussion, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, in Sci. & Tech. 117. Attend a question and answer discussion forum about the healthcare profession of a Physician Assistant (PA). A panel of graduate students currently pursuing Master of Science in PA Studies degrees at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine will discuss and answer questions about admission to PA graduate programs, life in graduate school, and the role of a PA. 11th Annual National Touring Film Festival (LUNAFEST®), 4:00 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, in Beers Lecture Hall. LUNAFEST® is the fundraising film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women’s issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities. Hosted by the East Stroudsburg University President’s Commission for Women and ESU’s Women’s Center. All proceeds from LUNAFEST will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and The Lucy Fund for Metastatic Breast Cancer Research in memory of Dr. Lucy Stanovick, an ESU English professor who lost her life to metastatic breast cancer in August 2012. 2012 PEBTF Open Enrollment for AFSCME and SCUPA October 1 – October 19 Each fall, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education employees who are covered by the Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund (PEBTF) health benefits have an opportunity to review their coverage and make changes
for the coming year. This year’s open enrollment period is October 1 – October 19. All changes must be completed in Employee Self Service (ESS) or returned to your university human resources office no later than October 19. All changes made will become effective January 1, 2013.

Student Activities

Warrior Spirit Night, 8:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5. The University Marching Band and the ESU cheerleaders will perform and athletic teams will be introduced. There will be free T-shirts, a wing eating contest and other fun games. Homecoming banners will be displayed and the homecoming king and queen will be crowned.

Homecoming Parade, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 6. The parade begins behind the Kemp Library, proceeds through the surrounding neighborhood of the university, and concludes back on campus. For more details and exact parade route, please contact the Office of Student Activities at 570-422-3055.

Fall Concert – The Band “Fun” on Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Mattioli Recreation Center. Tickets are on sale now for ESU students. Tickets cost $15 and are available at the Student Activities Complex from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and in the ESU Convenience Store from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday – Thursday, until 5:00 p.m. on Friday and from noon – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
