Shoppers looking for great last minute gifts do not have to go far thanks to the Made in the Poconos – Gifts for the Holiday campaign launched by East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU), in cooperation with the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, Pennsylvania CareerLink, and the Pocono Mountains Economic Development Corporation.

The idea for the campaign came from Dr. Marcia Welsh, Ph.D., ESU’s new president. “I’ve discovered so many unique products and shops in the Poconos since I arrived in July,” said Dr. Welsh. “The holidays seem like the perfect time to share this information with the community and to identify other businesses to be added to the list. It is important that neighbors in the Pocono community consider shopping locally.”

Carl Wilgus, president and chief executive officer of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, sees great potential for the Made in the Pocono Mountains Campaign. “We have had preliminary discussions about making this a year-round promotion,” said Wilgus. “More than 24 million visitors come to the Pocono Mountains every year. This is a great effort to boost the local economy.”
