{"id":1171,"date":"2011-10-14T14:28:38","date_gmt":"2011-10-14T19:28:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www4.esu.edu\/insider\/?p=1171"},"modified":"2011-10-14T14:28:38","modified_gmt":"2011-10-14T19:28:38","slug":"construction-update-51","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quantum.esu.edu\/backup_insider\/construction-update-51\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Construction Update (51)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following is a summary of the planned construction activity for the week of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">October 24, 2011<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">New Student Housing Project<\/span>:<\/strong> &#8211; (<em>Project Manager \u2013 Tom Bartek <a title=\"mailto:tbartek@esu.edu\" href=\"mailto:tbartek@esu.edu\">tbartek@esu.edu<\/a> Tel: 3038<\/em>)<br \/>\nWork on both buildings are continuing to progress well and the envelope system is 99% complete for Building \u2018A\u2019 and 96% complete for Building \u2018B\u2019.\u00a0The exterior building envelope, encompassing all building material to provide a seal from exterior elements, is anticipated to be fully enclosed by the end of October; well before winter conditions. Installation of exterior louvers, is on-going for the attic mechanical rooms, curtain-wall (windows) installation for Building \u2018B\u2019 and exterior site work including finish grading and concrete work for sidewalks and patios continues. Installation of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Suppression Systems and installation of interior finishes including painting, casework, countertops and flooring material is advancing well to meet the project completion date.\u00a0Pressure testing of the underground steam line is complete and outer metal protection shield around connecting joints is expected to be completed. Back fill will co-inside with this work allowing steam to flow through the pipe system.\u00a0Additional work will include the construction of a new 600 S.F. storage building adjacent to Whitenight Field, and underground utility relocation for the Verizon cell tower between the east side of Building \u2019B\u2019 and Smith Street, without an impact to pedestrian and vehicular traffic from University Apartments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expected Impact:<\/strong> Minor traffic flow interruption may occur along Isabelle Street to continue street work improvements for concrete curb adjacent to the existing sidewalks and to create a new two-way vehicle entrance into the new Hawthorn parking lot (currently under construction), and through the Lenape parking lot for construction vehicle access to the infiltration Basin 1A. In addition, the asphalt walkway north of Dansbury Common, from Green Street to Isabelle Street will remain closed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Monroe Hall Renovation Project<\/span>:<\/strong> &#8211; (<em>Project Manager \u2013 John Bloshinski II <a title=\"mailto:jbloshinski@esu.edu\" href=\"mailto:jbloshinski@esu.edu\">jbloshinski@esu.edu<\/a> \u00a0Tel: 3631<\/em>)<br \/>\nIn the Quad; geothermal well system work is almost complete; horizontal piping to the building continues. At the south side of the building; the elevator addition footings are scheduled to be poured beginning of this coming week. Slate roof removal is expected to begin on west side of the building.\u00a0Abatement continues on the first floor and is expected to be complete either late next week or beginning the following week; second, third and ground floors are complete. Ground floor excavation\/demolition within the building continues to create stepped auditorium. Building addition i.e. concrete walls at the ground level are to be poured during the beginning of the week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expected Impact:<\/strong> Noise from backhoes installing horizontal piping and demolition activity.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Marguerite St. Parking Lot<\/span>:<\/strong>&#8211; (<em>Project Manager \u2013 John Bloshinski II <a title=\"mailto:jbloshinski@esu.edu\" href=\"mailto:jbloshinski@esu.edu\">jbloshinski@esu.edu<\/a> Tel: 3631<\/em>)<br \/>\nWork continues on the site across from the existing parking lot on Gwendolyn Street to create an additional parking lot for 102 cars. Backfilling infiltration\/detention system and stone base is to be completed and curb work is expected to begin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expected Impact:<\/strong> Noise, movement of construction vehicle around the site and possible dust.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Caution<\/span>:<\/strong>\u00a0You are requested to remain outside all construction fenced\u2013in areas (especially around the New Student Housing and Monroe Hall Projects)\u00a0and be alert to slow moving construction vehicles exiting and entering the sites.
