Following is a summary of the planned construction activity for the week of October 10, 2011<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0New Student Housing Project:<\/strong> – (Project Manager \u2013 Tom Bartek tbartek@esu.edu<\/a> Tel: 3038<\/em>)
\nWork on both buildings is progressing well within the recovery schedule and the envelope system is 99% complete for Building \u2018A\u2019 and 95% complete for Building \u2018B\u2019.\u00a0 The exterior building envelope, encompassing all building material to provide a seal from exterior elements, is anticipated to be fully enclosed by the end of October; well before winter conditions.\u00a0 Installation of exterior louvers, is on-going for the attic mechanical rooms and exterior site work including finish grading and concrete work for sidewalks and patios continues.\u00a0 Installation of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Suppression Systems and installation of interior finishes including painting, \u00a0casework, countertops and flooring material is advancing well to meet the project completion date.<\/p>\n

Expected Impact<\/strong>: Minor traffic flow interruption may occur along Isabelle Street to continue street work improvements for concrete curb adjacent to the existing sidewalks and to create a new two-way vehicle entrance into the new Hawthorn parking lot (currently under construction, with expected opening in November), and through the Lenape parking lot for construction vehicle access to the infiltration Basin 1A.\u00a0 In addition, the asphalt walkway north of Dansbury Common, from Green Street to Isabelle Street will remain closed for pressure testing of the underground steam line, removal and replacement is complete.\u00a0 The steam line is anticipated to be turned over to the university early this week and the remainder of the steel protection covers installed for final backfill later in the week.<\/p>\n

Monroe Hall Renovation Project<\/span>:<\/strong> – (Project Manager \u2013 John Bloshinski II jbloshinski@esu.edu<\/a> \u00a0Tel: 3631<\/em>)
\nIn the Quad; horizontal piping continues to be installed linking geothermal wells and the building. At the south side of the building; the elevator addition footings are scheduled to be poured beginning of this coming week.\u00a0 Existing wood siding and moldings to continue to be removed. Slate roof removal expected to begin on west side of the building.\u00a0 Abatement continues on the first floor; second, third and ground floors are complete.\u00a0 Ground floor excavation\/demolition within the building continues to create stepped auditorium.<\/p>\n

Expected Impact<\/strong>: Noise from backhoes installing horizontal piping and demolition activity.<\/p>\n

Marguerite St. Parking Lot<\/span>:<\/strong>– (Project Manager \u2013 John Bloshinski II jbloshinski@esu.edu<\/a> \u00a0Tel: 3631<\/em>)
\nWork continues on the site across from the existing parking lot on Gwendolyn Street to create an additional parking lot for 102 cars. Storm water infiltration\/detention system work is complete. Backfilling infiltration\/detention system and stone base to be completed and curb work to begin.<\/p>\n

Expected Impact<\/strong>: Noise, movement of construction vehicle around the site and possible dust.<\/p>\n

Caution:<\/strong> You are requested to remain outside all construction fenced\u2013in areas (especially around the New Student Housing and Monroe Hall Projects) and be alert to slow moving construction vehicles exiting and entering the sites. Please observe all construction rerouting signs and for you safety, we urge you not to walk behind parked vehicles along the north side of Normal Street and to use the south side walk along Normal Street adjacent to the Koehler Field House.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
