Following is a summary of the planned construction activity for the week of October 31, 2011<\/span><\/p>\n

New Student Housing Project<\/span>:<\/strong> – (Project Manager \u2013 Tom Bartek tbartek@esu.edu<\/a> Tel: 3038<\/em>)
\nWork on both buildings is progressing well and the building envelope system, to be completely sealed by mid-November, is 99% complete for Building \u2018A\u2019 and 97% complete for Building \u2018B\u2019.\u00a0The exterior building envelope includes all building materials that provide a seal from exterior elements.\u00a0Installation of curtain-wall (windows) for Building \u2018A\u2019 and \u2018B\u2019 breezeways and exterior site work including finish grading and concrete work for sidewalks and patios continues. Installation of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Fire Suppression Systems and installation of interior finishes including painting, casework, countertops and flooring material is advancing well to meet the project completion date. Pressure testing of the underground steam line and the outer metal protection shield around connecting joints is complete and steam was introduced into the line for heat to affected buildings.\u00a0Back fill of the steam line is expected to be completed by the end of the week.\u00a0 Geothermal well piping is complete and circulating water to the HVAC unit ventilators which is currently providing in Building \u2018A\u2019.\u00a0Pressure testing of the interior geothermal piping system is complete in Building \u2018B\u2019 and will be connected to the exterior well pipe circuit system for final connection to unit ventilators for heat later in the week. General room clean-up has begun on the first floor, north side of the breezeway and including window cleaning and will continue throughout this week.\u00a0Additional work will include the construction of a new 600 S.F. storage building adjacent to Whitenight Field, and underground utility relocation for the Verizon cell tower between the east side of Building \u2019B\u2019 and Smith Street, without any impact to pedestrian and vehicular traffic from University Apartments. Landscaping around Building \u2018A\u2019 will resume this week as well.<\/p>\n

Expected Impact:<\/strong> Minor traffic flow interruption may occur along Isabelle Street to continue street work improvements for concrete curb adjacent to the existing sidewalks and to create a new two-way vehicle entrance into the new Hawthorn parking lot (currently under construction), and through the Lenape parking lot for construction vehicle access to the infiltration Basin 1A.\u00a0 In addition, the asphalt walkway north of Dansbury Common, from Green Street to Isabelle Street will remain closed.<\/p>\n

Monroe Hall Renovation Project<\/span>:<\/strong> – (Project Manager \u2013 John Bloshinski II jbloshinski@esu.edu<\/a> \u00a0Tel: 3631<\/em>). Masonry wash of the existing building continues this coming week. At the south side of the building; the elevator addition concrete walls are scheduled to be backfilled. Slate roof removal is expected to begin early this coming week. Abatement within the building is complete; test results this week will determine if the first floor has been cleared for new work to begin.\u00a0Select demolition throughout the building continues including ground floor excavation\/demolition within the building to create stepped auditorium. First floor structural support work and third floor reinforcement continues this coming week.<\/p>\n

Expected Impact:<\/strong> Noise from backhoes and demolition activity.<\/p>\n

Marguerite St. Parking Lot<\/span>:<\/strong> – (Project Manager \u2013 John Bloshinski II jbloshinski@esu.edu<\/a>\u00a0Tel: 3631<\/em>)
\nWork continues on the site across from the existing parking lot on Gwendolyn Street to create an additional parking lot for 102 cars. Curb work is expected to continue this coming week. Sidewalk installation is scheduled to begin shortly as well.<\/p>\n

Expected Impact:<\/strong> Noise, movement of construction vehicles around the site and possible dust.<\/p>\n

Caution<\/span>:<\/strong>\u00a0You are requested to remain outside all construction fenced\u2013in areas (especially around the New Student Housing and Monroe Hall Projects)\u00a0and be alert to slow moving construction vehicles exiting and entering the sites. Please observe all construction rerouting signs and for you safety, we urge you not<\/span> to walk behind parked vehicles along the north side of Normal Street and to use the south side walk along Normal Street adjacent to the Koehler Field House.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
