{"id":1469,"date":"2011-11-04T13:28:47","date_gmt":"2011-11-04T18:28:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www4.esu.edu\/insider\/?p=1469"},"modified":"2011-11-04T13:28:47","modified_gmt":"2011-11-04T18:28:47","slug":"weekly-construction-update-54","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quantum.esu.edu\/backup_insider\/weekly-construction-update-54\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Construction Update (54)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following is a summary of the planned construction activity for the week of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">November 7, 2011<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">New Student Housing Project<\/span>:<\/strong> &#8211; (<em>Project Manager \u2013 Tom Bartek <a href=\"mailto:tbartek@esu.edu\">tbartek@esu.edu<\/a> Tel: 3038<\/em>)<br \/>\nWork on both buildings is progressing well and the building envelope system, to be completely sealed by mid-November, is 99% complete for Building \u2018A\u2019 and 98% complete for Building \u2018B\u2019.\u00a0 The exterior building envelope includes all building material that provides a seal from exterior elements. Installation of curtain-wall (windows) installation for Building \u2018A\u2019 and \u2018B\u2019 breezeways and exterior site work including concrete work for sidewalks and patios, finish grading and landscaping continues.\u00a0Installation continues with \u00a0Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing &amp; Fire Suppression Systems devices, and installation of interior finishes including painting, casework, countertops, flooring material and dropped ceiling system \u00a0is advancing well to meet the project completion date.\u00a0Pressure testing of the underground steam line and the outer metal protection shield around connecting joints is complete and steam introduced into the line for heat to affected buildings. Back fill of the steam line is complete as well as geothermal well piping to the HVAC unit ventilators providing heat in Buildings \u2018A\u2019 and \u2018B\u2019. General room clean-up has begun on the first floor, north side of the breezeway, including window cleaning and will continue throughout this week.\u00a0Construction of the new 600 S.F. storage building adjacent to Whitenight Field has begun, and underground utility relocation for the Verizon cell tower between the east side of Building \u2019B\u2019 and Smith Street, without any impact to pedestrian and vehicular traffic from University Apartments continues.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expected Impact<\/strong>: Minor traffic flow interruption will occur along Brown Street to Smith Street to Normal Street and entering into Isabelle Street due to truck deliveries of the amended soils and stone to in-fill the Basin 1A, Infiltration System\/parking lot.\u00a0Deliveries are expected throughout this week for this work and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">pedestrian are cautioned to remain alert<\/span>.\u00a0To meet the project deadline, extended construction work hours, 7 AM to 10:30 PM and weekends, \u00a0have been granted for the month of November, The asphalt walkway north of Dansbury Common, from Green Street to Isabelle Street will remain closed during this work.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Monroe Hall Renovation Project<\/span>:<\/strong> &#8211; (<em>Project Manager \u2013 John Bloshinski II <a href=\"mailto:jbloshinski@esu.edu\">jbloshinski@esu.edu<\/a>\u00a0Tel: 3631<\/em>).<br \/>\nMasonry wash of the existing building continues this coming week.\u00a0 At the south side of the building; the elevator addition concrete walls are scheduled to be waterproofed and backfilled.\u00a0Slate roof removal is expected to continue; 4 parking spaces may be lost to accommodate slate roof removal in Parking Lot #5.\u00a0 Abatement within the building is complete. Select demolition throughout\u00a0 the building continues including ground floor excavation\/demolition within the building to create stepped auditorium. First floor structural support work and third floor reinforcement continues this coming week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expected Impact<\/strong>: Noise from backhoes and demolition activity.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Marguerite St. Parking Lot<\/span>:<\/strong> &#8211; (<em>Project Manager \u2013 John Bloshinski II <a href=\"mailto:jbloshinski@esu.edu\">jbloshinski@esu.edu<\/a> Tel: 3631<\/em>)<br \/>\nWork continues on the site across from the existing parking lot on Gwendolyn Street to create an additional parking lot for 102 cars.
