Student members of East Stroudsburg University\u2019s Chinese Club celebrated a mid-autumn festival on September 13 in Beers Lecture Hall near the front entrance of campus.<\/p>\n
They were supported by the local Chinese community, and also by faculty and Chinese language students associated with ESU\u2019s department of modern languages, philosophy and religion.<\/p>\n
This celebration focused on a traditional Chinese fall feast, complete with music, calligraphy, entertainment and intergenerational community participation.<\/p>\n
The Chinese II class performed a special Chinese lesson, showing their understanding of Chinese culture and Chinese proficiency. <\/p>\n
Other students of Chinese sang \u201cthe moon represents my heart,\u201d a very popular Chinese song. <\/p>\n
A recent ESU graduate and Chinese minor returned to campus for this event to\u00a0accompany some Chinese exchange students on guitar. In addition, a member of the local Chinese community brought a moving Tibetan dance to the stage. Several rounds of question-and-answer highlighted essential historical and cultural knowledge relevant to the festival’s tradition.<\/p>\n
