East Stroudsburg University invites the community to its 125th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Terraview at Stroudsmoor Country Inn in Stroudsburg, Pa. Hosted by ESU President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D., and the ESU Foundation, the event will feature the awarding of three Presidential Medals to individuals and a business/organization that exemplify the values of ESU.

Nominations for the awards are now being taken from members of the campus and Pocono community.

The President’s Distinguished Medal is the highest honor the university can award to an individual or organization and is presented at the discretion of the president. Established by Dr. Welsh, the university medal will be awarded in three categories: a community leader, a corporation/foundation, and a current or retired faculty/staff member.

“We welcome nominations regarding outstanding individuals for the President’s Distinguished Medal,” said Welsh. “There are many wonderful, giving people and businesses that make a defined positive impact on the lives of others. We feel the 125th anniversary of East Stroudsburg University is the ideal opportunity to acknowledge them with the highest honor that ESU can award.”

Nominees should exemplify the values of ESU and demonstrate commitment to the principles of intellectual integrity, freedom of expression, the fair and equal treatment of all, good citizenship, and environmental stewardship. They should be individuals and a business or organization whose work has enhanced the community, state, nation or world.

The campus will be host to a variety of historical photos and exhibits, as well as a founders’ day social, a community dinner, and much more. Alumni and friends are also asked to share their stories and highlights of their time spent at ESU.
