East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Political Science and the American Democracy Project (ADP) at ESU will host a debate for Pennsylvania’s 115th District House of Representative Candidates Wednesday, October 15 at 7 p.m. in Beers Lecture Hall.
Adam McGlynn, Ph.D., assistant professor of political science and chair of ADP, organized this event. Hosting this debate prior to the election on November 4 will be valuable to the local community, according to McGlynn.
“We hope these debates will continue to provide the community with an opportunity to hear the candidates in person and help them make an informed decision on Election Day,” he said.
The debate will feature Republican David Parker and Democrat Maureen Madden, the candidates for the newly created 115th district of Pennsylvania House of Representatives. The district is located entirely in Monroe County and includes the townships of Coolbaugh, Price, Paradise, and Stroud as well as the Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg boroughs. The candidates will debate current issues in advance of the election on November 4. Issues to be discussed include K-12 and higher education, taxation and pension reform. The debate will be moderated by McGlynn and Kimberly S. Adams, Ph.D., professor of political science.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information contact Dr. McGlynn at 570-422-3271 or amcglynn@esu.edu.
