East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Student Senate is giving back to the community for the 15th year with its annual Teddy Bear Drive. The Teddy Bear Drive will conclude with a holiday party on Saturday, December 6 at 11 a.m. in the Keystone Room, when local community members are invited to bring their children and enjoy games, crafts, cookies, hot cocoa, gifts and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The toys collected throughout the Teddy Bear Drive will be distributed to children at this party.
Student Senate is expecting over 100 families to attend the holiday party this weekend.
The Senate’s goal is that every child in attendance will receive a gift, according to Efia King, a senior majoring in Communication Studies and Sociology from Philadelphia, Pa. and vice president of Student Senate.
“We know times are tough, and we want to give back to the community and spread holiday cheer,” she said.
Student Senate will continue to collect donations until Friday, December 5. If anyone is looking to donate, visit the Student Senate office in Room 219 of the University Center.
“We need everyone’s help because the gifts and stuffed animals that we give to the children are solely based on the donations we receive,” King said.
