East Stroudsburg University’s Veterans Day Celebration is Tuesday, November 10, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to recognize local veterans, servicemen and servicewomen in all branches of the armed services. It will also introduce veterans to the educational opportunities available to them at ESU.
The celebration will be in the Niedbala Auditorium of the Hoeffner Science & Technology Center. In addition, there will be a military observance adjacent to the Julia statue at the front campus circle. Julia was originally acquired by East Stroudsburg State Normal School alumni in 1919 to commemorate and honor the school’s servicemen and women who had died in World War I.
The keynote speaker for this event is Colonel Douglas Douds, an instructor with the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pa. Air Force Veteran Zachary Roberts, ESU Class of 2018, will preside over the Veterans Day celebration.
Highlights of the celebration will include a wreath-laying ceremony with a three-volley salute at approximately 2:30 p.m. The celebration is open to the general public and campus community at no cost.
At 3 p.m. in the lower level of the Hoeffner Science & Technology Center, refreshments will be served and local veterans’ organizations will host an information fair.
Visitors to ESU’s campus may find additional parking at the university’s
