William Vitulli, Ed.D, a doctoral candidate from East Stroudsburg, Pa., will be the graduate student speaker for East Stroudsburg University’s winter commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 17, at 8:45 a.m. in Koehler Fieldhouse.
Vitulli is currently employed by the East Stroudsburg Area School District where he is the principal at Smithfield Elementary School. A part of the school district since 2014, he was also principal at East Stroudsburg Area Cyber Academy and serves as the Professional Development District coordinator and the Act 48 Hours coordinator. From 2009 – 2014, Vitulli served as principal of Colonial Academy in Wind Gap, Pa., and prior to that, he taught business at East Stroudsburg High School South and owned and operated a bike shop in East Stroudsburg.
He holds a Master of Education in education administration from ESU, a Master of Education in business education from Bloomsburg University and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Bloomsburg University.
Between his own education and his professional career, Vitulli has spent a lot of time developing his own educational philosophy.
“I believe it is every educational leader’s responsibility to promote the success of every student by developing, articulating, and implementing a vision that supports the acceptance of whole child knowledge as an over-arching necessary component of the practice of education,” he said.
Vitulli will earn a doctorate in education administration and leadership studies as part of a collaborative program between ESU and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He credits this program for teaching him to develop personal growth in those with whom he works, and he hopes to build an educational community that supports all students to reach their personal best. “I believe I am a servant to my constituents and the community at large,” he said. “I will lead with integrity, character, and transparency.”
