Brandon Igdalsky will be the keynote speaker for East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania’s winter commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 16, at 9:45 a.m. in Koehler Fieldhouse. Igdalsky, the eldest grandson of Pocono Raceway founders Dr. Joseph and Dr. Rose Mattioli, is the former President and CEO of Pocono Raceway. In August 2017, Igdalsky was named Managing Director, Event Marketing & Promotion at NASCAR and is based in Daytona Beach, Fla. In the new role, Igdalsky oversees the at-track experience throughout NASCAR’s three national touring series: the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
Since he was 13 years old, Igdalsky had worked and observed every aspect of the operation of Pocono Raceway. He started off in the sanitation department and worked in the facilities sewer plant before making the rounds to all other departments within the organization. Over the years his duties included maintenance, track services, operations, concessions, sales, and marketing.
In 2008, Igdalsky spearheaded a move that would make Pocono Raceway a global leader in renewable energy. Ground was broken in May 2010 for what would become, at the time, the largest solar-powered sports facility in the world. The three megawatt Pocono Raceway Solar Farm, consisting of 39,960 American made ground-mount photovoltaic cells on 25 acres of Raceway property, was commissioned on August 25, 2010. It has become the primary electric energy source for the Raceway.
Igdalsky currently serves on the Green Sports Alliance (GSA) board of directors. The GSA leverages the cultural and market influence of sports to promote healthy, sustainable communities where people live and play. The Alliance inspires professional sports leagues, college conferences, sports governing bodies, colleges, teams, venues, their partners and millions of fans to embrace renewable energy, healthy food, recycling, water efficiency, safer chemicals and other environmentally preferable practices. Alliance members represent nearly 500 sports teams and venues from 15 sports leagues in 14 countries.
Igdalsky also is an active member of the Young President Organization (YPO) and serves on the executive committee for the YPO’s Global Family Business Network.
