ESU Calls for MLK Award Nominations

Nominations are being accepted for the 2020 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards, which will be presented at the 23rd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 8 a.m. in the Mattioli Recreation Center. Nominees for the awards should exemplify characteristics of Dr. King’s philosophy of non-violence, equality, justice, cultural diversity and respect for humanity.
Three awards will be presented. One award will go to a member of the ESU community, the second award will go to an ESU student, and the third award will go to a member of the regional community. ESU candidates must be currently employed by the university as a faculty member, staff member, or administrator. ESU student candidates must be currently enrolled for at least two full-time semesters. Candidates from the community must be actively involved in Monroe County working to improve the community in ways such as advocating for education, working with children and youth, underprivileged and underrepresented groups, etc.
All nominations must include one letter of recommendation.
Nomination forms are available online at www.esu.edu/mlk. The deadline for nominations is November 8, 2019.
Reservations are now being taken for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast at a cost of $40 per person, $15 per student and $300 for a table of eight. Proceeds will benefit the Mary Gertrude Smith Boddie Scholarship Fund at ESU. To reserve your seat, visit www.esu.edu/mlk.
