Faculty members from East Stroudsburg University’s political science and economics department will participate in a panel discussion on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 8 to 9 p.m. to discuss the outcome of the nationally-televised vice presidential debate featuring Democratic nominee, Sen. Kamala Harris of California, and the Republican nominee, Vice President Michael Pence, that is set for the prior evening.
ESU professors of political science, Dr. Kenneth Mash, Dr. Johan Eliasson, and Dr. Adam McGlynn, are the panelists that will review and discuss the outcome of the debate during a Zoom event from 8 to 9 p.m. on Thursday evening. Political science professor and chair of ESU’s political science and economics department, Dr. Samuel Quainoo will be the panel moderator and present questions to ESU panelists during the session. “The goal of this event is to help individuals understand the impact of candidates’ responses and how they may be interpreted given their party’s platform,” noted Dr. Quainoo. “We encourage voters to listen carefully to the vice-presidential debate and write down any questions they may have about the topics and responses. The following evening, ESU’s professors/panelists will respond to the questions based on their subject expertise.”
While the list of topics for Wednesday’s vice presidential nationally-televised debate have not been announced, it will take place on Wednesday, October from 9 to 10:30 p.m. from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah. The event will be divided into nine 10-minute sections. Each candidate will have two minutes to respond to the opening question in each segment.
