ESU’s Chapter of American Democracy Project Collaborates with League of Women Voters for Monroe County To Provide Series of “Voter Information Hours”

East Stroudsburg University’s chapter of the American Democracy Project (ADP) and the League of Women Voters for Monroe County have partnered to develop an event series, the “Voter Information Hour,” a series of weekly drop-in virtual sessions intended to help individuals get answers to any voting-related questions ranging from voter registration and polling place locations to requesting mail-in ballots and tips on what to expect if voting in-person. The hour-long sessions will take place every Friday from 12-1 p.m. through the remainder of October on Zoom using the link: https://esu-online.zoom.us/j/94878316983. The event is open to the general public at no cost.

“The intent of this collaboration is to promote voter participation and civic engagement,” said assistant professor Michelle Donlin, scholarly communication and research librarian, Kemp Library at ESU and co-coordinator of this event series. “With so much misinformation in the media, the Voter Information Hour is a safe place for ESU students to get vital information in preparation for Election Day on November 3.”

The voter registration deadline in Pennsylvania is Monday, October 19, 2020, and the last day to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday, October 27. According to Professor Donlin, speakers for each of these sessions will use non-partisan information sources from ESU, (esu.edu/vote), official government websites (www.votesPA.com), and the League of Women Voters (www.vote411.org/Pennsylvania, and www.lwv.org).

Professor Donlin also serves as the scholarly communication and research librarian at Kemp Library as well as co-coordinator of the ESU chapter of the ADP. She also serves as the coordinator of government documents at ESU and provides government information research assistance to students, faculty, staff, and community members. She earned her bachelor’s degree in history and anthropology at Pennsylvania State University and a master of library science in E-Government librarianship from the University of Maryland.

For this event, Professor Donlin will be joined with other speakers including:

• Ann Super, the judge of elections for Stroud 4, and fiscal advisor for the League of Women Voters of Monroe County. Mrs. Super is a retired program analyst for the Tobyhanna Army Depot. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Wilkes University and a master’s degree in public administration from Marywood University.
• David Super, the director of the League of Women Voters of Monroe County, retired Army civilian project manager, and president of ESU’s Alumni Association. Mr. Super earned his bachelor’s degree from ESU, an M.B.A. from the Florida Institute of Technology, and a master’s degree in national resource strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Washington, D.C.
