East Stroudsburg University communication instructor, Kim Bell, recently took students from her Broadcast Journalism class to local cable television station Blue Ridge Cable Channel 13. The students were immersed in the technology and duties of the news staff at the station. Students took turns writing news scripts, operating studio cameras, acting as floor director, running the teleprompter, and reading their stories at the news desk, giving them a hands-on learning experience of how a broadcast news team works together to deliver the news. Bell, who joined ESU’s communication faculty as an instructor in January 2021, is general manager of BRC13 and has more than three decades of experience with the station as a reporter, news anchor, host and administrator.
