Earlier this month, three members of the East Stroudsburg University chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) attended the organization’s district conference in Pittsburgh, Pa. The two-day conference was held at Duquesne University and Point Park University. The ESU PRSSA members who attended the conference were Crystal Renaldi, a senior majoring in communication from Bangor, Pa. and the president of ESU’s chapter of PRSSA; Skyler Wick, a junior majoring in communication from Kennett Square, Pa. and the treasurer of PRSSA; and Francesca Palmeri, a junior majoring in communication from Morganville, N.J. and the PRSSA social media coordinator.
Over the course of two days the students heard from 20 speakers. One of the most memorable presentations was from Robin Rectenwald, and account executive at BCW Global. In her presentation, Lessons Learned After Graduation, she talked about her professional career and some vital lessons she has learned. She explained that through networking and perseverance, dreams can certainly become reality.
“Some of the things that stood out to me are that we should never underestimate any one job because it could lead to a dream job,” said Palmeri. “Robin Rectenwald really drove home that we need to go after what we want and leave behind our legacy.”
The Public Relations Student Society of America is a professional organization that has been recognized at ESU since 2011. PRSSA is a club for students looking to hone in on networking and public relations skills.
