More than 70 East Stroudsburg University Warriors Soccer alumni, friends, parents and student-athletes gathered for “A Place to Call Their Own” on September 27. The virtual campaign event, hosted by the ESU Foundation and ESU’s Department of Athletics, provided guests with an in-depth look at the proposed project and the $4.5 million campaign under way to make it a reality.
The new NCAA regulation turf soccer field will be built alongside Eiler-Martin Stadium and will include perimeter fencing, spectator seating, field lighting, press box, scoreboard, and sound system.
In January 2020, campaign chair and former ESU soccer coach Jerry Sheska ’68 M’81, along with 36 committee members, launched a fundraising campaign to build a standalone stadium for ESU’s men’s and women’s soccer programs. Campaign efforts were halted two months later due to the pandemic. With new plans now finalized, the $4.5 million campaign has been relaunched. To date, $2.4 million has been raised toward the campaign goal.
Sheska, current Warriors soccer head coach Rob Berkowitz and several student-athletes shared their feelings as they look forward to the stadium’s completion (https://youtu.be/09BNOxG6W_Y.)
