On April 18, three East Stroudsburg University students had the opportunity to visit the Pennsylvania state Capitol. The students, who are taking a broadcast management class, were given tours of the television and radio studios in the Senate and House chambers. They met with staff members involved in every aspect of video and audio production as well as a representative from the photography department.
The students, Kobe Jenkins, a junior majoring in communication from Harrisburg, Pa.; Samantha Kutza, a senior digital media technologies major from Auburn, Pa.; and Calla Sandt, a sophomore communication major from Canadensis, Pa.; are all interested in pursing a career in communication or electronic media.
“The students got a first-hand, behind the scenes look at what goes into all the productions for our Pennsylvania legislators as they share information with their constituents through television, radio, streaming, podcasts and social media sites,” said Kim Bell, instructor of communication. Bell teaches the broadcast management course and accompanied the students on the trip to Harrisburg.
The students learned about the many employment opportunities available at the Capitol and toured the impressive building dubbed by Theodore Roosevelt as the most ornate Capitol in the entire country.
