International Honor Society in Education Chapter, Inducts 39 New Members During Ceremony

East Stroudsburg University’s Gamma Xi Chapter of the Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), the International Honor Society in Education, inducted 39 new members and recognized two outstanding educators during the chapter’s annual induction ceremony at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn in Stroudsburg this spring. Kappa Delta Pi was established to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching. This International Honor Society celebrated its 100th Anniversary this year. The 45,000 members include the best and brightest scholars and practitioners in the field of education. ESU has sponsored a chapter of KDP since 1931.

The new members of the ESU chapter have earned a quality point average (GPA) of at least 3.4 and have performed more than 20 hours of community service during the past year.

Nancy Daniels, a second-grade teacher at Resica Elementary School in the East Stroudsburg School District was honored as Outstanding Educator of the Year. Dr. Gina Scala, chairperson and professor of the department of special education and rehabilitation, was honored as the Outstanding Professor of the Year. Both recipients were honored for exemplifying the ideals of Kappa Delta Pi and demonstrating excellence in education.
