The East Stroudsburg University Foundation will dedicate the ESU Warrior Esports Room on Tuesday, February 11at 2 p.m., recognizing the significant generosity of donors who supported the project. Located within the Mattioli Recreation Center, the Warrior Esports Room bridges the gap between academics and recreation, providing students with valuable personal and interpersonal learning experiences that will prepare them for future careers in technology-driven fields. The dedication marks a significant step in the university’s commitment to offering state-of-the-art educational and experiential opportunities for the campus community.
The Warrior Esports Room was made possible by a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Commonwealth Financing Authority, and the generous support of Alfredo E. ’03 and Jennifer Garcia. The dedication will include donor recognition, plaque unveilings, tours of the facility, and demonstrations by ESU students. A light reception will follow.
This addition to the Mattioli Recreation Center bridges students’ passion for esports with a valuable hands-on learning experience, especially for those majoring in digital media technologies . In addition to the gaming computers, the Esports Room features a Shout Casting Room, a dedicated space where esports commentators can broadcast live. The room is fully integrated with ESU’s McGarry Communications Center, allowing students to develop skills in esports content creation for a global audience.
The Warrior Esports Room serves as a hub for students interested in esports and competitive gaming while offering a place on campus for students to connect with like-minded peers. Through participating in collegiate gaming tournaments, the Esports club team represents ESU and competes against teams from other universities across the country. The room creates an environment for gamers to develop meaningful face-to-face relationships while simultaneously engaging in game-based learning that enhances career readiness competencies.
