Mattioli Recreation Center Debuts New Renovations

The new academic year at East Stroudsburg University came with a fresh, updated look inside the Mattioli Recreation Center.

Renovations that began at the close of the spring semester wrapped up prior to the start of the 2025-26 academic year, with ESU Campus Rec and Wellness welcoming new and returning Warriors to a facility that now boasts numerous renovations.

The recreation center’s arena area – spaces for basketball, volleyball, pickleball and soccer – was upgraded to include new floors, paint and ESU branding. Upgrades were also made to the weightlifting and cardio space, including a new floor, carpeting, and paint. The main staircase to the second floor now features the ESU mark and the Way of the Warrior, greeting guests who enter the facility.

“Every time a student walks into our facility, not only do they feel connected to the University thanks to our branding, but they are also able to connect with peers in an intentional, and organic way – through sport, fitness, and recreation,” said Director of Campus Rec and Wellness Gerard Morgan. “The renovations done directly build on Campus Rec and Wellness’ philosophy of being “’The Happiest & Healthiest place on Campus.’”
