East Stroudsburg University invites the general public to attend a sky show, entitled “The Stars of Spring” and a feature show, “Two Small Pieces of Glass,” at 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013. The shows will be held in the McMunn Planetarium in the Warren E. ’55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center.
“Stars of Spring” describes what can be seen in the heavens during the spring months. The feature show, “Two Small Pieces of Glass,” details the history of the telescope—from the time of Galileo to the launch of NASA’s Hubble space telescope.
The program is open to the general public at no cost, but reservations are required due to limited seating. Reservations will be taken online starting at 8:00 a.m., May 13, on a first-come, first-serve basis at www.esu.edu/planetarium. Those interested in attending planetarium events may reserve up to four seats for a specific show. Programs are suitable for children but be advised that the planetarium will be quite dark during the sky show and feature show.
Group inquiries should send an e-mail request to stardomes@esu.edu. A schedule of planetarium shows for the spring 2013 semester is posted at www.esu.edu/planetarium.
