ESU Graduate Student Receives the Herbert Weber Cardiac Rehabilitation Scholarship for 2013-2014

The East Stroudsburg University Chapter of The Association of Pennsylvania State Colleges and University Retired Faculties (APSCURF) has awarded the Herbert Weber Cardiac Rehabilitation Scholarship to Krystal Martinez of Mt. Pocono, Pa. She is a graduate of Pocono Mountain East High School. The East Stroudsburg University Chapter of The Association of Pennsylvania State Colleges and University Retired Faculties (APSCURF) has awarded the Herbert Weber Cardiac Rehabilitation Scholarship to Krystal Martinez of Mt. Pocono, Pa. She is a graduate of Pocono Mountain East High School. Martinez is currently a graduate student in the ESU Clinical Exercise Physiology program.

Martinez was selected to receive the scholarship by a committee composed of current faculty members from the Department of Exercise Science and retired ESU faculty.

The criteria for the scholarship include academic record, evidence of community service, department recommendation and articulation of career goals.

Martinez recently graduated from the ESU Exercise Science program with an overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5. As an undergraduate at ESU, she completed an internship as a physiotherapist at a local chiropractic facility.

This is the fourth year the APSCURF scholarship has been awarded.  Professor Emeritus Dr. Herbert Weber is the founder of the ESU Cardiac Rehabilitation Graduate Program, now known as Clinical Exercise Physiology. Management of the scholarship is coordinated through the ESU Foundation.

Scholarship selection committee members include: Dr. Donald Cummings, professor/graduate coordinator; Dr. Gregory Dwyer, professor; Dr. Arnold Goldfuss, professor emeritus; and Quentin Currie, professor emeritus.
